Ula - Be a Mermaid Canvas

I absolutely adore mermaids, so was delighted to work with the ‘Ula Be a Mermaid’ digi stamp from Polkadoodles  for this mixed media canvas.  I coloured the image with Promarkers and added additional sparkle using ‘Waterfall’ and ‘Star Dust’ Stickles.  For the background, I randomly cut some seaweed shapes from copier paper and placed over a plain canvas to use as masks.  I then sprayed the canvas using Dylusions Inks in ‘Blue Lagoon’, ‘Teal’ and ‘Island Parrot’, moving the masks between layers and dabbing off some of the ink with paper towel to create texture.  I then added a part of the corresponding sentiment and glossy accents for bubbles.

Happy Crafting!

Ula Create Journal Tag

For this Polkadoodles DT project for the 'We Love to Create' blog challenge, I was inspired to use the ‘Ula Create – Life Journal’ digi stamp, which I coloured with Promarkers. Ula is very keen on journaling so she needed to be sat on top of a pile of wonderful, inky and creative art journals. I used the books from the ‘Cupcake on pile of books’ digi stamp to create this effect, which I coloured, fussy cut and decoupaged to create depth and dimension.

I cut a large tag shape from 300gsm plain card stock and covered it using a background paper from the ‘Winnie Wonderland Paper Heaven 8’ bundle which has a subtle text pattern. I edged the tag with Craftynotions ‘Pink Sapphire’ jewel enamels embossing powder and stamped one edge with the ‘Queen of Hearts Collage’ stamp. I love this stamp as it has so many elements to it. I embossed it using WOW! ‘Gold Rich Super Fine’ powder. I then roughly tore purple flowers from the ‘Winnie Wednesday Halloween Bundle’ paper pack, edging them with ‘Dusty Concord’ Distress Ink. I applied the same ink to the sentiment from the ‘Ula Create – Life Journal’ digi stamp set.

I selected a purple ribbon from my stash which I also stamped and embossed in gold, using the ‘Queen of Hearts Collage stamp’.

I hope you enjoyed this project and I look forward to seeing your makes this month.
Happy Crafting!

Octavia Tag Book

Happy New Year, crafters! For this Design Team project for Polkadoodles, I chose to make a tag book using images and papers from the gorgeous Octavia Collection.  I created the tag book using 300gsm card stock and covered using papers from the ‘Octavia Moonfly - Paper Heaven Paperholic’ collection. All sentiments were from the ‘Octavia Moonfly - Say It All’ Digital Bundle.

For the left tag, I used the ‘Great Outdoors’ stencil with Distress inks and the digital stamp ‘Octavia Thinking’ which I coloured using Promarker pens.

On the second tag I stamped, cut and coloured the butterfly from the ‘Flower Collage’ stamp set, sticking one butterfly directly to the page and a second butterfly over the top, being careful to only stick the body down and lifting the wings to create dimension. I used a scalloped die to mat and layer the sentiment.

For the middle tag, I stamped, cut and coloured elements from the ‘Queen of Hearts Collage’ and ‘Flower Collage’ stamp sets.

On the fourth tag I stamped directly on to the paper using the ‘Queen of Hearts Collage’ and ‘Flower Collage’ stamp sets and roughly coloured the images using distress crayons and a white Posca pen.

On the final tag, I used the ‘Octavia Best Friends’ digital stamp, coloured using Promarker pens.

I included fabric flowers, ribbons and eyelets from my stash to add extra details

I look forward to seeing your beautiful projects this month,

Happy Crafting!

Winnie in Wonderland – Time is Running Out

Hello there, crafters!  Here is my latest make for the Polkadoodles We love to create blog challenge using the delightful ‘Winnie in Wonderland’ collection.   For this mixed media art board I used the ‘Time is Running Out’ digi stamp and the white rabbit from the ‘Let’s Hurry’ digi stamp, colouring with my Copics and Promarkers.

I created the background by painting the art board with black gesso and edging it with embossing enamel.  I used one of the background papers from the ‘Winnie Wonderland Paper Heaven 8’ collection which I tore to create a textured edge and coloured using distress ink.

I really enjoyed playing with the ‘Winnie Wonderland Embellies 1&2’ to create the scene and I particularly liked having the white rabbit pop out of a tea cup!  I used Crackle Accents on the large clock face to add shine and texture and included some embellishments from my stash to tie it all together and add extra interest and dimension, including sprocket dies which I covered with embossing enamel for a colourful, rusty look.
